This September is like no September ever before.
I’m happy that the weather is cool enough to leave the windows open, and I’m always pleased to present a new issue. This one starts off with a poem, by Amy-Jean Muller, about eroticism. Victoria Brooks is up next, with an excerpt from her absolutely brilliant Fucking Law, in which she bucks the academic system and gets off on the beach. Guy New York brings us part one—of three—of his short novella Bisexual Men Are More Likely to Be Murderers. And we’ve got interviews with textile artist Rigged Thread and with photographer Derek Bremner.
Derek and Rigged both contribute galleries as well, so we can get an idea of their work.
Sinnamon Love gives us one last romp with the fruits of summer in a gallery by Clinton Mingo. Steve Ronin takes us to AVN. It’s more of a through AVN, down the hall, and into the private rooms adventure than a tour of the convention itself. Steve also contributes a glorious pin-up gallery of Syd Deveraux in red, and a silly, goofy set of Syd, Sweetpea, and I all done up as cats.
Speaking of Pea and I—we’ve shot a very special version of her legendary Birthday Cake act, as an episode of Spicing Up. Cam Damage, who you’ll remember from the Mostly NonBinary issue, licensed us a wonderful video of themselves with Kris Scott and Mike Panic called Eumoirous. There’s our word for the day. And Go Ask Alex makes an appearance in the Heart Boners series under her own direction.
We’re trying out some accessibility options with Alex’s video. Captions seem pretty self-explanatory, but what to describe in an audio description was a big question, complicated by the fact that a large portion of the work is Go Ask Alex speaking. We’re incredibly open to feedback on this subject.
